My programming history

I started programming at college in Qbasic some nine years ago. I then moved on to Visual Basic which lead to Visual Basic.NET. At university I had to learn c and c++ as part of my course and even spent a short time looking at Java. I then started to get intrested in web development that lead me to php and javascript. Outsie of academia programming had always just been a small hobby and was never something I took too seriously. That all changed when my intrest in web devlopment landed me a job in an internet company. There I had my first introduction to perl, I now would not go back to any of those languages if you paid me. For me perl fit like a glove it does everything I want and it does it in a way that suits me. Coding in any other languages never felt as natuarl as it does in perl. I am sure you would not have to search hard to find a developer who would say this about their choosen language. However this is my site so I can say in my opinion perl is the best programming language.

Why I created this site

I started learning perl a few years ago as part of my job but mainly for my own purposes. I have created a lot of useful scripts and programs with a long todo list with many more in the pipeline. I felt that it was time I started to give back to the perl community and perhaps help some aspiring devlopers in the way that other peoples sites have helped me. I hope some people can learn from what I have started here and perhaps even improve upon my work. I am still learning myself and welcome feedback, constructive critism and any advise more experienced programmers have to offer.

Other peoples code

It has been asked will I accept other peoples code onto this site. I am afraid that the answer to that question is at the moment, no. For now this is my site for my code this may change in the future. I have too many ideas at anyone time to develop even half of them and some of teh projects are growing quite large. A time may come where I would be willing to team up on a large project that someone brought to me or if someone voluntered to assist with one of mine. By all means if you think you have something that would suit the nature of this site do send me it. I always enjoy looking at other peoples code and you never know I may change my mind about the purpose of this site.
